David F. Chester, Esq. brings more than 25 years of legal experience to Gonzalez Law,
representing individuals, businesses, and governmental entities in civil, family, criminal,
administrative, and appellate matters. His practice includes litigation, elections law, local
government law, regulatory compliance, property rights, insurance, labor and employment,
probate, and public-interest advocacy. Mr. Chester has served as an Assistant Attorney
General for the State of Florida, and as Assistant General Counsel to the Florida Elections
Commission.
Mr. Chester earned his Juris Doctor with High Honors from the Florida State University
College of Law, graduating in the top 8% of his class. During law school, he received
multiple Book Awards and was inducted into the Order of the Coif. He also holds a Master
of Arts in English (Creative Writing) from the University of Southern Mississippi and a
Bachelor of Arts in American Studies and English from Florida State University.
In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Chester has a longstanding commitment to education.
He has taught English and writing at the university level and has served as a legal tutor and
research assistant at Florida State University College of Law. Mr. Chester is also an
accomplished writer and published poet. His academic background reflects a strong
foundation in both law and the humanities.
